He was right. What I do appreciate is knowing about it thru this detailed book. Lots of craziness in the world.not so sure I appreciate knowing the U.S. military is part of it. Eisenhower once said something to the effect.keep an eye on the military.

The style seemed like something a junior-high school kid would have produced. I didn't make it halfway through the book. Maybe I was having an off-day, but it put me to sleep.

Apart from the start of the book where the author clearly states "these events are true" - if it weren't for that you would never think it. I believe that incredible claims require incredible evidence.

I note that the film has been made into a rather poor comedy rather than a documentary - this is what the book deserves. It is a story that the author could have invented on an LSD trip (and lots of the writing does have a Hunter S Thompson"Gonzo" feel to it - but not so well done), there is no solid evidence presented, it has the feel and style of a somewhat disjointed novel rather than a real investigation.

I would love to believe that the CIA have been wasting huge amounts of government money on Mr Geller and the like - but I see no proof of it here. There is a market for this book though - the ultra hardcore "Elvis is alive on the Moon" conspiracy types.

The book seems to jump from anecdote to anecdote about these absurd US special forces officers, including the one believes he can walk through walls (he cannot), those who think they can kill goats by staring at them (they cannot), and even those who can destroy clouds by looking at them (anyone can- try it). Uri Geller is mentioned a few times as having been involved, but never clearly tied in.

If it weren't for the fact that the author is already in print, if this were a first novel, it would never have seen the light of day.

None the less I did find this book very interesting to read not to mention many people on the train going to and from work gave me odd looks as I read this on my commute. I haven't seen the movie yet, but it was a good odd read, so if you want to read something that is a bit odd.this book is the right one for you. If you are looking for investigative journalism or novel writing this book will let you down. The book kept my interest, it sort of veers off in different directions but then gets back to where it started.

Some information is quite disturbing, some humorous, and some puzzling. Interesting tidbits of information about our government's methods. Good airplane read.
